Namaste, This is the very first article on this blog by me and I want to express my gratitude and respect for my Jyotish Guru who initiated me in the divine tradition of Jyotish Vedanga and continues to guide & teach me as learning never stops because the ocean of knowledge has no bottom and no boundary, It is truly with his blessings that I am writing this article and may his updeshas, light & knowledge flow through the words that are written from here onwards on this blog.
In the Narada Puran, Narada Rishi extolls the merit of Shri Ganesha through a hymn which has the power to remove obstacles and bless one with fulfillment of a desired wish which we can understand from the below shloka of the hymn ;
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम्।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ।।6।।
One who pursues knowledge will get knowledge, One who wants to earn wealth will get wealth, One who wishes for a child will get offspring, And one who wants salvation will get salvation ।।6।।
Shri Ganesha is represented by Ketu and Ketu is Moksha Karaka & the southern node of Moon. Now why the shadow planet Ketu is the significator of moksha (Salvation)?
Ketu governs the zodiac sign Scorpio which is own sign for Ketu and the moola trikona which in simpler terms is the office of the planet is Pisces for Ketu, the natural 12th house of spirituality and moksha. 12th house is also the house of loss, giving or going away, so it is Ketu’s domain here to provide a way out of the cycle of birth, death & rebirth. So Ketu does not aspect or Drishti as Drishti causes desires and desires are obstacles on the path of salvation.
So, at times we face certain losses in life which impact us so deeply that it can transform us and make us spiritual, now transformation comes from the 8th house of Scorpio in natural zodiac which is home or own sign of Ketu.
Remember, Ketu is also headless and wherever Ketu is placed in our chart in which ever house, mistakes related to those houses or significators will be seen and experienced in this life. One can even face obstacles or hurdles in relation with those aspects of the house. Ketu will destroy the aspects of that house, basically making everything “shunya (zero)”.
If Ketu conjoins certain planets it can create a highly malefic yoga which can be disastrous for the life of native if timely remedies are not performed , about which I will share in a different article.
Ketu is also a natural malefic planet and here Narad Rishi hints us to worship Shri Ganesha with his dwadasha (twelve) names to remove all afflictions, malefic effects and obstacles that Ketu may show, now there are 12 rashis and 12 names of Ganesha have the power to remove obstacles and shower blessings of the sign represented by that particular name.
So, if you are a Scorpio ascendant, it is must for you to worship Shri Ganesh with the particular name he has associated with Scorpio.
These names when chanted in form of mantras depending on the native’s chart can offer protection, intelligence, fame, name, remove obstacles and much more.
On an ending note, Ketu is a spiritual planet and for those who want to follow the path of spirituality, Ketu will be beneficial, albeit if we are on a materialistic journey in life, it is vital for us to maintain our Ketu by worshipping Shri Ganesha.
In my Vedic Astrology Consultations, depending upon the chart my Jatakas (Clients) are given the specific mantra of Shri Ganesha for them and Ganesha mantras can be chanted for very focused purposes as well, example for students if they chant the mantra of Shri Ganesha specific to them, their intelligence and understanding capability will become stronger and improve helping them be better at their studies.
To pacify Ketu, worship of Lord Ganesha is must. It is also important to see how Ketu is placed whether in exaltation, own sign or debilitated for further remedial measures.
